Art Philosophy

My Art Philosophy

Art should be placed in all grade levels including pre-kindergarten. Art not only helps children grow intellectually but also socially. Art gives students sense of their surroundings, promotes self-sufficiency, and creates unity amongst classmates.
Through art students become more aware of their surroundings. Art gives students an opportunity to layer ideas onto what they already know by applying art to other subjects. Through critiques students learn how to verbalize what they have on their paper. Students become more accepting of other students’ work as well as their work when they are involved more often with the art assignment.
Students should be encouraged to create their own work. It is always good to show examples of what is to be expected of students but encourage them to do work themselves. Students need to have space to takes risk. That’s the way they grow in their craft. Students need to find their own style and taking over their work of art contradicts with that.
Art welcomes everyone who has an imagination. All students come from the same starting point making them feel equal to one another. Art not only gives students a sense of pride but it teaches them to be responsible. There isn’t a right or wrong answer when it comes to art. There are multiple ways to solve a challenge.
